Have you heard the expression "We need a bigger boat?" This would have been a good idea if we had decided to continue to Martha's Vineyard.
The three women headed off to the Cape Cod Winery and were treated to a WONDERFUL experience. We decided to do a $10.00 tasting and enjoy a variety of their wines. This turned out to be the right choice because we were able to chat with the owners, Pete Erica and learn their story.
"A Small Family Run BusinessCape Cod Winery is a small family run business. Pete & Erika Orlandella purchased the winery in 2013 which they then relocated a few miles down the road to its current address of Oxbow Road in 2014. You will often be greeted by them personally and find them working the wine tastings, in the fields, or working on a new project that they will gladly show you (and sometimes even ask for your help!). Their children (Joe, Pete Jr. & Olivia) and extended family also help during the summer months, working the wine tastings & gift shop."
In addition to this excerpt I took from their website I also learned they renovated the 1800's house and barn to incorporate their living space and the vineyard. They took such loving care to create an amazing, welcoming and peaceful spot for customers and friends to enjoy their wine. Pete brought around a tasting of pizza and I am personally LOOKing forward to this addition some time in the future!
I HIGHLY recommend this spot while in Falmouth. They are open year round but move indoors ad under cover for a more intimate atmosphere in the winter. I WILL be returning:)
Rain pushed us inside and off to bed. BUT we woke to a beautiful day and were inspired to head out in the boat again, destination...OakBluffs for breakfast!!
A beautiful morning on the water and breakfast at Linda Jeans. While we were waiting for our table we had to stop in at Back Door Donuts. Although the back door was closed thankfully the front door was open! We then wandered along the harbor with a stop and LOOK at the National Historic Landmark called the Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association or the Gingerbread Cottages as I think of them. Our wait time for breakfast seemed short with donuts and a history lesson.
We headed back to the boat after breakfast and enjoyed a lovely trip back to the dock. Thank you Captain Mike!
Time to pack up and head home for the Pats game!
